Originally from Marseille, Stéphan Caracci studied percussion in Alexandre Régis' class at the same time as jazz with Philippe Renault and Jean-Luc Lafuente. He made his debut alongside Raphaël Imbert (Newtopia Project, N_Y Project) and Cyril Benhamou (In & Out) with whom he won distinctions at the Concours National de Jazz de La Défense. He then went to the CNSM in Paris and participated in the creation of groups such as Julien Soro's Big Four, Olivier Laisney's Slugged and Rétroviseur, a group that won the Jazz Migration program in 2010. Stéphan joined Hervé Sellin Marciac's tentet New-York Express and Sophie Alour's quintet Géographie des rêves for a while before joining Frédéric Maurin's Ping Machine in 2013. He also accompanied Mico Nissim's quartet Labyrinthe, whose latest project included the string quartet Léonis. Also a drummer, he is a member of the song group Tout Finira Bien and, since 2014, of Renaud Garcia-Fons' trio, La Vie devant soi. Stéphan has been teaching percussion at the Conservatoire de Montreuil since 2010.
