Vladimir Gurfinkel was born in Ukraine, in 1984 he graduated from the Kyiv State Institute of Culture, in 1990 he received a theater director's diploma from the St. Petersburg Institute of Theater, Music and Cinema, and defended his Ph.D.
He staged performances in Kyiv, Sevastopol, Baku, Norilsk, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, St. Petersburg. Directed and worked as the chief director in the theaters of Sverdlovsk and Perm, in 2012–2013. was the artistic director of the large-scale festival "White Nights in Perm", and in 2014-2017. - festival-forum "Space of directing". V. Gurfinkel actively works as a theater teacher, leads theater laboratories abroad: in Italy, Mongolia, Vietnam, Bulgaria, France, and the USA.
