After studying in Japan, France and Germany, pianist and musicologist Yusuke Ishii obtained a master's degree in musicology from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater. From 2021 continues his doctoral studies in art studies at the Lithuanian Cultural Research Institute (dissertation topic "Adaptation of acculturation strategies in the works of Lithuanian modernists: analysis of the work of Vytautas Bacevičiaus, Jeronimos Kačinskas and Julius Gaidelis", thesis supervisor Prof. Dr. Rima Povilionienė). in 2020 he was awarded the George Mikellis (Jurgis Mikelaičius) named scholarship to implement the project "Research and editing of piano etude manuscripts of Lithuanian interwar avant-garde artist Vytautas Bacevičius, publication of the complete set and musical presentation". Yusuke's achievements as a pianist include the 2nd prize at the 14th International Xavier Montsalvatge Competition in Girona (Spain) and awards at the International Piano Competition in Orléans (France): Nadias Boulanger (2008) and André Jolivet (2010) special prizes. He released two CDs with piano compositions by A. Jolivet and E. Varèse (ALM records, 2012) and works by A. Jolivet and J. Lenot (Lyrinx, 2013).
