Composer Zita Bružaitė, laureate of the national prize, once said: "All my music is a dedication to the Most High." Even while receiving the prize, the composer said: "I would very much like those who open my modest music box to see not only notes and sounds, but also would find this one more. What is important to a person. What is important to our story. What is important for our country. From the little things to the biggest things. And, of course, I would very much like that after a few years, the code of my music conceived and named - its openness and universality - would not change, would remain as a recognizable mark of my music. And code. I would think that for developers and for me personally, time is a very precious, or perhaps the most precious, currency. Very often I find myself saying, Lord, give me time to do this and do it well.”
Musicologist Dainora Merčaitytė writes that Z. Bružaitė's work is diverse: it gives the impression that she is consciously changing her style, sometimes speaking with philosophical wisdom, sometimes jokingly like a medieval joker. The composer freely combines medieval asceticism and modern color, folk music intonations and jazz improvisations in her works. With her music, Z. Bružaitė strives for emotional contact with the listener, and is able to present complex technological processes in a playful, intriguing way. The composer claims that each of her works is individual, autonomous, independent from the previous ones - like a turn to an ever-new, refreshing flow of sounds: "In my music, as in the works of many of my contemporaries, there is no common, unified system, opinions and strict rules are ignored."
During this concert-meeting, the listeners will not only hear a broad retrospective of Z. Bružaitė's work, but will also have the opportunity to chat live with the composer, will hear many interesting, not only musical stories, and will be able to enjoy the best music of this creator: from expressive piano trios to those that promise a great mood songs coming from the balcony on the fifth floor.
