About the Association The "Nacionalinė Vargonininkų Asociacija (NVA)" is a professional organisation which since 2007 unites Lithuanian organists, organ builders, researchers, scholars and art critics involved in the art of organ building. The NVA is committed to promoting and coordinating the creative activities of organists, members of the Association, to their professional training and education, and to representing and defending their interests. In addition, the Association actively contributes to the promotion of organs and the development of organ culture throughout Lithuania, takes care of the condition of the instruments and seeks dialogue with the institutions responsible for the protection of the organ as a cultural property. Project Activities and Events The NVA organises various events, courses, educational programmes "Organs for Children" and publishes specialised publications. The aim of these activities is to promote organ music among all age groups and to encourage public interest in this unique instrument. Management Since 14 January 2017 The Association is headed by Dr Balys Vaitkus, who is known for his professionalism and passion for organ music. The Association's Board also includes a number of professionals from various fields, including Jurgita Kazakevičiūtė, Vilimas Norkūnas and Dr Girėnas Povilionis, who contribute to the implementation of the NVA's objectives and strategy. History The NVA was established in 2007, thanks to the initiative of Dr Vidas Pinkevičius, Dr Aušra Motūzaitė-Pinkevičienė and Paulijus Grigonis. For the first decade, the Association was led by Dr Vidas Pinkevičius. Since 2017, Dr Balys Vaitkus has taken over the leadership of the NVA, and under his leadership, a new phase of the NVA's activities has begun, which is aimed at even greater promotion and development of organ art in Lithuania. Directions of activity The NVA not only takes care of the professional development of its members, but also seeks to create favourable conditions for the promotion and recognition of organ music. The Association organises international festivals, concerts, scientific conferences and seminars, which provide an opportunity to get acquainted with the latest innovations in organ music, to hear famous performers and to exchange experiences with colleagues from other countries.
