Stasys Babonas

Born on 29 May 1960 in Ražaitis, Raseiniai district.

In 1978 graduated from Vilnius Antanas Jonynas Secondary School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. In 1981-1986 he studied at Šiauliai Pedagogical University (now Šiauliai University), where he acquired a speciality of a typhlopedagogue. In 1990-1991 he studied psychology at Vilnius University. He worked as a director of the Lithuanian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted, chairman of the Kaunas and Marijampolė districts of the Lithuanian Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted, and since 2005 as the director of the Kaunas Centre for the Blind and Partially Sighted. The first poem was published in the 1976 almanac of blind writers "Vaivorykštė", Vol. 2. The first short stories were also published in "Vaivorykštė", Vol. 3. Stories were also published in periodicals such as "Kauno Tiesa", "Kauno Diena", "Mūsų Žody" and its supplements, as well as in the press of Jurbarkas District. He is currently working on a new novel "Jakovas rožinis" about 16th century life in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
