Jan Szurmiej Polish actor, director, producer and choreographer, expert on Jewish culture. In the 1950s he attended the Ballet School at the Wrocław Opera. In the years 1965–1971 he was an actor of the Gest Pantomime Theater in Wrocław. In 1976 he passed an extramural exam for drama actors in Warsaw. In the years 1971–1991 he was associated with the Jewish Theater in Warsaw. In the years 1990-1993, he was the artistic director of the Wrocław Operetta Musical Theatre, which changed its artistic profile and became the "CAPITOL" Musical Theatre, returning to its pre-war name. The main director of the Wrocław Opera. Senior lecturer at the Academy of Music in Wrocław. In the years 1992-1994, he was the general and artistic director of the Warsaw Operetta, whose artistic formula he changed into the "ROMA" Musical Theatre, returning to the pre-war name of this facility. In 1996–1997 he was the chief director of the Jewish Theater in Warsaw. In 1996–2000, he was the general director of the Association of Independent Radio and Television Authors SNART in Warsaw. In the years 2001–2007, he was the creator and artistic director of the Festival. Anna German in Zielona Góra.
He has over 100 directorial productions to his credit, as well as many film and television roles.
