Pianist of Lithuanian origin, researcher, teacher at Hamburg University of Music and Theater.Honorary member of the Lithuanian Composers' Union, renowned pianist Raminta Lampsatis (Lampsatytė), born in the USA, now living in Berlin, professor in Hamburg, is often seen in Lithuania as well. She is brought here not only by various projects - organizing concerts for her former students, etc., but also by the feeling of home. She is a kind of spreader of Lithuanian art and the Vydūnas spirit in the world, and a seeker and nurturer of new talents in Lithuania.Born in Chicago, the performer studied piano and German literature there, then continued her studies at the Salzburg Mozarteum University and Berlin, where she obtained a doctorate in musicology. R. Lampsatytė has published books about Lithuanian modern music, composers B. Kutavičius and O. Balakauskas. In Berlin, the professor works with opera soloists, in Hamburg she prepares oratorios, songs with bachelor singing students, modern music and opera with master students, she also works with doctoral students - both performers and musicologists, conducts a seminar on 20th and 21st century music, has many concerts . And the third area of R. Lampsatytė's work is called coach: she works with opera soloists, preparing them to present themselves to agencies - she offers repertoire, advises on clothing and other issues, this is a profession that does not yet exist in Lithuania. In other words, she is a manager of opera soloists who have already graduated. The professor is also interested in philosophy and comparative literature. The highly erudition pianist-musicologist has been communicating with her homeland very flexibly in recent years, and each of her visits to Lithuania is connected with various projects that bring together local and foreign artists. The professor also conducts singers' master classes at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater. The fruits of her work are significant achievements of our young vocalists in international competitions. Raminta Lampsatytė devotes her attention to even the smallest Lithuanian musicians - in the annual "Palmyras" competitions organized by the Biržai Art School, she rewards the best students of the piano and art departments with her own funds. Why the Exchange? First of all, because the roots of Raminta Lamsatytė should be sought in Biržai: Professor's mother, Palmyra Kutraitė-Lampsatienė, was born in Biržai district, Medeikiai region (the Palmyra name prize R. Lampsatytė annually awards to the most talented pupils of the V. Jakubėnas Music School in Biržai). Jurgis Lampsatis, R. Lampsatytė's father, is a pedagogue and choirmaster, a well-known nurturer of the musical tradition of Little Lithuania.Together with her husband, the professor has established the Tylos Prize for composers, cooperates with the Kaunas gallery "Aukso pjūvis": helps to sell the works of Lithuanian artists in Germany.
