Lars von Trier was born in Copenhagen to a Jewish family. Parents are left-wing activists interested in nudism.
He started filming at the age of 11. In 1983, he graduated from the Danish School of Cinematography. While still studying, he made several films: "Nocture" (1980), "Image of Liberation" (1982) and "The Last Detail" (1981), which were awarded in the "Best Film" category at the Munich Film Festival. in 1982 together with producer P. A. Jensen founded the film company Zentropa. He is considered one of the most famous creators of postmodern cinema.
