Биография

Born in Norwich, Caspar Lloyd James completed his postgraduate singing studies at the Trinity-Laban Conservatory in London, supported by a Kathleen Roberts scholarship. During his studies there, he had already sung the title roles in Handel's "Imeneo," Mozart's "Don Giovanni," and Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin," among others. Since then, he has also appeared as a guest with several English opera companies, including Guglielmo in Mozart's "Così fan tutte" and Lord Dunmow in Lennox Berkley's "A Dinner Engagement." He played the role of Minstrel in the world premiere of Louis Manders' "Beowulf" and Surgeon in the world premiere of Stephen McNeff's opera "Banished." In Germany, he sings at the Junge Oper Detmold (Papageno, "The Magic Flute," "The Father," and "Hansel and Gretel"). He sang the role of Masetto in the Berlin Opera Collaborative's "Don Giovanni" and Harlequin in their "Ariadne auf Naxos," which was recorded in the rehearsal studios of the Deutsche Oper. He sang in the Volksbühne's new production of Heine Müller's "Germania," with music by Mark Scheibe. In 2021, he sang the role of Ben in Raminta Lampsatis' (Lithuanian National Opera) production of Menotti's "The Telephone" in Berlin. He also sang as an oratorio soloist in Siegfried Matthäus's "Luther's Dreams" with the Brandenburg State Orchestra of Frankfurt. He returned to the UK to play the role of Le Dancaïre in Dulwich Opera's "Carmen" and, in 2022, Richard Cantillon in the premiere of Nick Bicât's "The South Sea Bubble." In France, he sings regularly at the Opéra Baugé, most recently in L'Horloge Comtoise, "L’enfant et les sortilèges" and Silvano, "Un ballo in maschera." In previous years, he sang Colas, "Bastien et Bastienne," Cascada, "The Merry Widow," and Sprecher, "The Magic Flute." He sang Il Conte, "Le Nozze di Figaro" for La Philharmonie de Deux Mondes.
