Guillem Góngora Moral (1994) is a composer and musician based in Rotterdam. His artistic work ranges from pieces for instruments with and without electronics, sound installations and music for the moving body.
He studied composition at ESMUC (Barcelona) with Bernat Vivancos and Mauricio Sotelo, and piano with Xavier Pardo and Xavier Barbeta. After obtaining his bachelor’s degree, he moved to the Netherlands to study his master’s at HKU (Utrecht) incorporating the use of electronics in his work. In 2019, while in his master’s, he was awarded with the 17th International Prize Joan Guinjoan from Barcelona with his piece Processus. Shortly after graduating, he started collaborating with different dancers creating the music for several dance performances. He created the music for the performance Out of the blue by Strange Strangers which toured around the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Poland and Italy. Out of the blue won the award for best choreography in 25Masdanza (Gran Canaria), was semifinalist at Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition, and finalist at Festival 10 Sentidos (Valencia) and Copenhagen International Choreography Competition.
He has received masterclasses from Stefano Gervasoni, Sofia Gubaidulina, Mauro Lanza, Mauricio Rodríguez, Raphael Cëndo, Clara Maïda, Bryn Harrison, Kaija Saariaho and Ondrej Adámek. Also, his music has been played by ensemble BCN216 (Barcelona), Curious Chamber Players (Stockholm) and Insomnio Ensemble (Utrecht) amongst others.
Besides his artistic work, Guillem has given masterclasses and workshops in Barcelona, Tenerife and Rotterdam, about composition and music for dance.
