Lithuanian theatre scholar. Dr. (hum. m., 2002). 1986 graduated from Vilnius School of Culture, 1992 – St. Petersburg Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography. 1994–2010 editor of the Theatre section of the weekly 7 meno dienos, 2005–06 editor of the journal Teatras. Since 1998 she has been working at the Lithuanian Cultural Research Institute (until 2010 the Institute of Culture, Philosophy and Art). Since 1999 she has been teaching at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (until 2004 the Lithuanian Academy of Music); professor (2014). Member of the editorial board of the ongoing peer-reviewed scientific journal Menotyra, and since 2022 – also the chairwoman of the editorial board, member of the editorial board of the ongoing scientific journal Sphairos. Culture and Media Studies (until 2021 published under the name Lietuvos kultūros tyrimai). Main areas of scientific research: theatre history and theory, theatre semiotics, theatre sociology, current problems of theatre directing, methods of contemporary theatre studies.
