started learning to play the piano at the M.K. Čiurlionis high school of arts, in the piano class of teachers L. Jakniūnienė and A. Jurgelionis. Since 2000 she is a student of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, currently continuing her master's studies, prof. in Peter Geniuš's class. The performer was trained by prof. N. Serioginos (Russia), prof. J. Godziszewski (Poland), prof. C. Bensono (Great Britain), prof. V. Gornostajeva (Russia) in the master courses.
While still a schoolgirl, Sonata Alšauskaitė participated and won several international competitions, including Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte (1995, Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic), Carl Czerny (1997, Prague), A. Rubinstein (1999, Paris); Konzerteum (1999, Athens). in 2003 she became the winner of the International M.K. Čiurlionis pianists and organists competition in Vilnius.
