Calling their genre Primal-core, KUNTARI have continuously experimented with primitive voices produced during animal mating season, mixed with variations of Indonesian tribal rhythms. The music developed a percussive primitive sound combined with a dark atmosphere and the intense dynamics of ancient rhythms. Their live performances create an organic, untamed and wild feeling.

Following tours in Thailand, Taiwan and Malaysia, as well as playing at LUCfest, which has made a positive career change for them across Asia; KUNTARI recently completed a 12-date run of concerts in Japan and at the Fuji & Sun Festival, leaving a distinct footprint overseas. KUNTARI's album 2021 was voted the best album of the year by Jakarta Post and Vice 2022 was voted the second best album of the year.

KUNTARI has collaborated with many mixed genre musicians such as Rully Shabara, Arthur Hnatek, Morgue Vanguard, Jonas Engel, Dirk Wachtelaer, Luigi Monteanni, Yuji Ishihara and Yasushi Yoshida.
