Event description
The narratives in Aistė Bugailiškytė's paintings are very story-like. The author is able to evoke feelings through the human figure or a minimal interior detail, deeply touching the viewer's inner world and awakening the imagination. Aistė Bugailiškytė seems to open the pages of her diary to the viewer, showing certain moments in her life. "In my work, I look for images that are acceptable to me at certain stages of my life. In my work, an important role is played by a subjective interpretation of the past and the surrounding environment in the face of the present," says the painter Aistė Bugailiškytė about her work. In her paintings, we also meet the artist's alter ego - charming ladies with graceful silhouettes, dreaming and loving in stunning interiors that may be just a figment of the subject's imagination. All this creates an excuse for the artist to immerse herself in self-reflection, to create a safe space for herself, and at the same time invites the viewer to step into this vivid, highly literary and cosy world of interiors - to wander through it, abandoning all the stimuli of the outside world. The gallery "Laiptai" (Žemaitės str. 83, Šiauliai) will be open until 3 July.
