Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No.5 in C minor.
Ludwig van Beethoven's legendary saying about the Fifth Symphony, "fate knocks at the door", which circulated at the beginning of the nineteenth century, is once again stirred and shaken. The work by one of Germany's best-known composers begins with a four-note introduction, or 'fate motif', which spread faith and hope to Nazi-occupied Europe via BBC radio during World War II. The world is now once again in a situation of chaos, brutality and despair. In the face of danger and war, the vital aspirations of humanity, victory, peace and freedom emerge.
On the occasion of National Day, a hopeful concert in the Catholic Church of Nida, featuring one of the world's best-known musical compositions. After the opening of the festival and the concert, we will invite all Lithuanians of the world to join us in singing the National Anthem in the Municipal Square.
