On 4 July, 7 pm, in the North Gallery of the 1st floor of Sapiegas Palace, an exclusive event that does not fit into the format of a concert will take place, which we have called the Meditation of the Ancient Harp.
Ancient music expert and performer Ieva Baublytė (ancient harp, longitudinal flutes) will invite the audience to immerse themselves in a meditative listening session and to enjoy an extraordinary sound relaxation. Her music will weave together the serene melodies of the longitudinal flute and the gentle sound of the ancient harp. Listeners will be invited to listen to themselves and hear the silence. The session will include traditional Irish melodies, ancient medieval music and contemporary improvisations.
Senovian Harp
The small instrument of Ieva Baublytė is a replica of a 15th century harp, also known as a Gothic or early Renaissance harp. Such harps are extremely rare today and are more often found in museum exhibitions or in old paintings, frescoes or manuscripts. In the past, they were used by wandering poets and harpists of European courts.
