International Music Festival "NIKO" in Vilnius, Lithuania. K. Čiurlionis Music Festival opens its season in Vilnius with a world premiere - a composition by composer Mindaugas Urbaitis specially written for this evening, performed by one of the world's most renowned trumpeters Ole Edvardas Antonsen, renowned pianist Aleksandra Žvirblytė, and the Vilnius ensemble NIKO, which has conquered the world's most famous stages, led by its founder, conductor, and composer, Gediminas Gelgotas.
On 14 November, these artists will perform together on the stage of the Lithuanian National Philharmonic.
The programme of the concert will reflect the extraordinarily broad range of Ole Edvard Antonsen's artistic interests.
In the first part of the concert you will hear music for trumpet and strings by Baroque composers Corelli and Tartini, as well as works by Arvo Pärt and other contemporary composers.
In the second part of the concert, you will hear the world premiere of a piece by M. Urbaitis, which the trumpeter will perform together with pianist A. Žvirblyte, G. Gelgotas and NIKO. "In the new work dedicated to M. K. Čiurlionis, as well as in the previous one, I will draw on fragments of his musical creativity, aiming to reflect the characteristic features of his work in various fields of art, which stem from the experiences of his childhood and youth, as well as from his impressions of nature. The second part of the concert will reveal Ole Edvardas Antonsenas as a composer and improviser, featuring the most memorable works of composer Gediminas Gelgotas and the trumpeter's own atmospheric style, as well as improvisations, which Novergas will perform using Looper pedals.
