The Orchestra of the M. K. Čiurlionis National School of Arts and a future star of the stage
The M. K. Čiurlionis International Music Festival continues the tradition of providing a stage for future music stars. The performances of the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Martynas Staskus, which are a great success, are always followed by ovations and are as much awaited by the audience as the recognised stars of the stage.
The National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts Symphony Orchestra was established in 2002. It is a continuation of the renowned string orchestra founded in the past by former professor Saulijus Sondeckis, which won the prestigious H. von Karajan Competition.
Since its foundation, the Symphony Orchestra has been led by Martynas Staškus, conductor of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre.
The orchestra's programmes have been performed on numerous occasions at the Vilnius National Philharmonic and other major stages, and its touring itineraries have reached international venues.
This time the audience will be treated to an exceptional and atmospheric programme with the orchestra, featuring future Lithuanian stars Jovita Kasperavičiūtė, euphonium player, and Joris Mikužis, pianist, as well as guests from Costa Rica - Randal Gonzalez, Grand Prix winner of the International Competition "Music of the Century", and soprano Tamara Redondo, pianist.
The concert will also feature special guests - the legendary saxophonist Petras Vyšniauskas and one of the most famous Lithuanian pianists Aleksandra Žvirblytė, who have created a number of spectacular programmes dedicated to the works of Čiurlionis, and who have toured successfully both in Lithuania and abroad. This time, the masters of the stage, accompanied by the Čiurlioni Orchestra, will perform arrangements of his works for saxophone, piano and orchestra, specially created for the year of Čiurlionis.
The festival is organised by the public institution "Klasika LT".
