Petras Vyšniauskas was born in Plunge, studied at Plunge I secondary school and graduated from the Plunge Children's Music School. in 1972 entered the Stasios Šimkaus Higher School of Music, then the Lithuanian Conservatory, now the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater.
1966-1978 worked as a wedding musician, then from 1977 to 1986 – artist saxophonist of the association of Vilnius variety orchestras and ensembles, 1986-1991. - the state of the Slovak Republic Philharmonic Jazz Quartet artist, 1988-2003. – LMA (current LMTA) chief. assistant, since 2003 - docent. There is a member watching international competitions.
Since 2004 VšĮ Vilniaus festivalai has been appointed the artistic director of the international festival "Jumbo".
Debut - in 1982 at the Birštonas Jazz Festival with the legendary Lithuanian jazz collective - P. Vyšniauskas Quartet. Then the quartet won the main prize of the festival. in 1983 In the All-Union Variety Competition, his quartet won the II prize among several thousand other groups of various genres (the I prize was not awarded to anyone). Mr. Vyšniauskas was elected the best saxophonist of the Soviet Union, had the title of jazz musician of the year and the best saxophonist of Lithuania.
Petras Vyšniauskas is the first Lithuanian jazz musician who performed in Australia and in the homeland of jazz - the USA (1995). Mr. Vyšniauskas is known not only in Lithuania, but also abroad: he participated in prestigious jazz festivals in Detroit (USA), Berlin (Germany), Zurich, Geneva (Switzerland), Perth (Australia), Pori (Finland), Warsaw (Poland). , in New York, Vilnius, Kaunas, etc. He toured in the USA, Poland, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium, Holland, France, Spain, Romania, etc.
Mr. Vyšniauskas performs not only with jazz, but also with folk and academic music performers: Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, St. Kristoforo, Lithuanian National Symphony Orchestra, folk singer Veronika Povilionienė, foreign musicians: Viačeslavas Ganelinas, Morton Feldman and others.
Composers from many countries write their works for Petrus Vyšniauskas, and his works are heard in more than 50 drama theater performances and films in Lithuania and Western European countries. On his initiative, Lithuanian composers (F. Latėnas, A. Navakas, V. Bartulis, A. Šenderovas, V. Germanavičius, R. Racevičius, J. Cechanovičius) created the inv. shapes of works for saxophone.
