A tour-performance presenting modernist architecture and interwar Kaunas. A city that entered the race with other European cities and achieved its own: it was called a little Paris, and in 2023, Kaunas buildings, their diversity, the optimism that connects everything, were recognised as exceptional not only in Lithuania, Europe, but also in the world. Kaunas modernist architecture has been awarded UNESCO heritage status as one of the most outstanding early examples of regionalism in the history of modernist architecture.
This is a revival of a project created in 2017, a synthesis of sounds and dance performance that allows you to relive the experiences of the people who lived in the interwar period such as: A.Smetona, A. Valdemaras, Č. Sugihara, M. Avietėnaitė, etc. and the stories of buildings. Revealing the events, the present day, the real life stories, the culture of the time, the uniqueness of the style and the uniqueness of the style. Each building, which is presented during the performance-tour lasting just over an hour, is unique, one of a kind, with a personal biography. The trajectory of the movement is the garden of the Military Museum, Vienybės Square, S.Daukanto Street, Laisvės Avenue.
The project is unique in the fact that the viewer does not only observe the visual staging of the work, but also becomes an immersive participant with the help of headphones. The voices are recorded by R. Zemkauskas, G. Padegimas, B. Letukaitė, J. Kančienė and others. The stories merge with the music, transporting the participants to another space, immersing them in a journey through the labyrinths of Kaunas' interwar architecture and people's history, and they are given meaning by the professional dancers of the ULNA troupe.
