The play "Filomena Morturano" directed by Algirdas Latenas is based on the play by Eduardo De Filippo. The famous Italian playwright, actor and director E. De Filippo (1900-1984) is deservedly considered the continuation and nurturer of the unique Neapolitan theatrical tradition. The talent of the comedian was appreciated all over the world, and the play "Filomena Morturano" written in 1946 is considered the peak of his work, which received numerous translations and productions on the stages of theaters around the world. The work also became the script of the legendary Italian film "Italian Wedding" (1964). Incidentally, the film stars actors Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroiannis.
This is a touching story about a woman trying her best to save her love and dignity. Having once escaped from a brothel and been a maid for her lover for twenty years, Filomena Morturano wants only one thing: to marry and legitimize her three sons.
