Mikhail Kozyrev is looking for an answer to the main question in his author's program "Not My Rock'n'Roll". How did it happen that the spirit of rock and roll freedom was replaced by brazen support for the government and the war it unleashed?
Mikhail, like no one else, knows the industry from the inside and, together with the viewer, reflects on the topic of how we came to the point where rock music has become an accompaniment to dictatorship. How the government "kibbed" rock musicians for years, trying to influence the public through them, and some succumbed to the changing world, while others did not and were forced to leave the country.
Mikhail Kozyrev is a man who played one of the main roles in the formation and development of the rock scene in the post-Soviet space. Music journalist, TV presenter, media manager, producer - this is not all, thanks to which he has become one of the most influential people in the musical environment. Kozyrev was at the origin of cult radio stations Maximum and Ultra, Our Radio, Maxidrom, Invasion and Chart Dozen. Thanks to him, the soundtrack of the movie "Brother-2" appeared, which became an important phenomenon for the entire generation of young people who survived the 90s. Mikhail was also the host and producer of the Dožd TV channel's music broadcast since its inception.
In many ways, it was at his suggestion that BI-2, Zemfira, Spleen, Night Snipers, Agata Kristi, Chicherina and dozens of other artists appeared on the musical horizon and became big stars, who eventually became on opposite sides of ideological barricades after February 24, 2022.
