Opera Under the Stars

Opera Under the Stars

Concert

Event description

This year, Midsummer Vilnius returns to the festival's cherished and much-loved format - Opera Under the Stars.
On the evening of 25 July, the enduring love story of centuries will be the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet, excerpts of which will be performed by one of Lithuania's most talented opera soloists, Edgaras Montvidas, along with the evening's invited guests and the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra conducted by Modestas Pitrėnas.
"Opera Under the Stars" is a special spectacle worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime. Passionate opera lovers travel hundreds of kilometres every year to hear unique productions in spectacular venues. Midsummer Vilnius, located in the heart of Vilnius, under the romantic canopy of the summer sky, offers just such an opportunity.
One of the world's most popular operas, Carmen depicts a woman who is madly longing for love, but her heart is overcome by obsession and jealousy. Bizet's score, inspired by Spanish motifs, bubbles with passionate, seductive melodies, the most famous of which are heard in the arias of "Habanera" and "Toreador".
