Edgaras Montvidas, one of the most famous soloists of the Lithuanian Opera, studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, prof. in Virgilius Noreika's class. His international career as a singer took off during his internship at London's Royal Opera House, Covent Garden 2001-2003, where he performed Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata, Arminius in The Robbers, Marcella and Laertes Thomas in Hamlet, and Fenton in Verdi's Falstaff.2003-2006 was a soloist of the Frankfurt Opera.The soloist has created more than 40 roles and performed them at the English National Opera, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden; Cincinnati Opera; Santa Fe Opera; At the Dutch National Opera, Aix-Provence Festival, Geneva, Frankfurt, Lyon, Paris Opera Comique, Brussels La Monnaie, Strasbourg, Vienna, Berlin, Zurich, etc. in theaters.Edgar is also active in concert activities - he has sung with the largest symphony orchestras both in Europe, the USA and Japan, in the most famous concert halls - the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Musikverein, Amsterdam Concertgebow, Boston Symphony Hall, the main concert halls of London, Paris, etc.The soloist's discography includes 8 CDs and several DVDs.For his services to Lithuania, he has been awarded the Medal of the Order "For Services to Lithuania", the honorary badge of the Ministry of Culture "Carry your light and believe", the Kaunas City Municipality Award - the Kaunas Mayor Vileišis Medal, and in 2009 he was awarded the Golden Cross of the Stage for the role of Werther in the opera "Werter" (VCO) and in 2020 for the role of Alfredo in La Traviata (LNOBT). in 2022 the soloist was awarded the Lithuanian National Culture and Art Prize.
