The festival opens with a programme by the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra in collaboration with the renowned Italian saxophone maestro Federico Mondelci.According to the orchestra's Artistic Director Mindaugas Bačkaus, "this soloist is considered one of the best Italian saxophone virtuosos. Over the last 20 years he has established himself as one of the leading saxophonists of his generation. He has performed in Germany, Spain, Finland, Japan, New Zealand, USA and elsewhere. Mondelci is known as an active promoter of contemporary music and an innovator in saxophone technique. He is the dedicatee of numerous compositions that have been performed on major concert stages in Europe and America.
Highly regarded by both music professionals and the general public, he and the orchestra will be performing works by famous Italian composers as well as compositions by a renowned Argentinian composer. The audience will be enchanted by the classics of film music and the passionate Argentine tango.
