A number of important appointments distinguished the artistic work of Federico Mondelci at this end of 2012. It begins Sunday 11November in the prestigious concert season of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic in the historic hall considered a symbol of the classic music heritage of all the time.
Here Mondelci, now a regular guest (and already scheduled for the coming seanson 2013-2014), will start as conductor and soloist blending in a program that compares great symphonic works of the twentieth century. Under the tittle “Contrasts” will present italian music; in the first part of the concert there are two compositions that , despite their reputation, are performed for the first time in Russia: “Variazioni Canoniche” after A. Schoemberg serie Op 41 and “Concerto for Orchestra” by Goffredo Petrassi.
In a ‘contrast’ that os only of language and not in the artistic value, the second part of the program sees Mondelci also as soloist as well as conductor, to broaden the vision to the music of Javier Girotto and to film music by Nino Rota and Ennio Morricone (orchestrated by composers Giovanni Indulti and Roberto Granata)
From Russia to Thailand, on December 9th Mondelci will agin appear as soloist and conductor with the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra in the Thai capital. The concert is included in the celebration for the 85th birthday of he King. Once again the program ‘without borders and without barriers’ propose real ‘classics’ of American music (Ouverture to Candide by Bernstein, Gershwin’s An American in Paris), very famous pages of Porter, Ellington and others (with the singer Cristina Zavalloni) and other significant repertoire of songs including a suite for saxophone and orchestra written by composer Stefano Nanni.
