Dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Lithuanian professional opera, Giuseppe Verdi's amazing "Traviata", dressed by talented young creators in the latest expression technologies - media opera - says goodbye to the audience.
The media opera performance, which has no analogues in Lithuania, and perhaps in the world, fascinates with unexpected technological solutions: here you will not see live soloists, but the dramatic love story of Violeta and Alfredo is told in an hour by showing video projections on certain objects and with the voices of the century of Lithuania - starting with the legendary singers Kipros Petrauskas, Elžbieta Kardelienė, Elena Čiudakova and finally Virgilijus Noreikas, Vytautas Juozapaitis and others. Thus, this media opera is also a modern monument to the first "Traviata", which began the history of professional Lithuanian opera.
Why was culture so important to the young state then? Why, apparently, having neither the necessary human nor financial resources, was it decided to establish one's own Lithuanian opera theater, instead of being satisfied with the performances of touring foreign troupes? Why even 82 years on December 31? the audience used to be invited to "La Traviata" to celebrate the birthday of the Lithuanian Opera and why was this meaningful tradition stopped after the country regained its independence? Who were the creators of Lithuanian professional opera and why did Giuseppe Verdi's eighteenth opera Traviata become a kind of talisman for us?
The introduction of the media opera "Traviata" and the author of its idea, composer, professor of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, Audronė Žigaitytė-Nekrošienė, will help you find the answers to these and other questions.
The Media Opera Theater, which was born with this performance of TRAVIATA, will invite new premieres in the spring of 2023. So now is the time to see the origins of the new genre.
IMPORTANT:
All funds collected for the performances of the media opera TRAVIATA are allocated to new productions.
