The International M. K. Čiurlionis Music Festival presents the Godowsky Duo: two world-renowned masters - the legendary pianist Mūza Rubackytė (Lithuania-France-Switzerland) and the violin virtuoso Dmitry Makhtin (The Netherlands). After the success and awards received (Diapason d'Or, 5* Classica, ffff Télérama) for their CD featuring works by Leopold Godowsky and Karol Szymanowski, the artists offer to the Lithuanian audience a programme entitled "Belle époque" (The Wonderful Age). Godowsky, who was famous for his pianistic activities, also composed many rarely performed works for piano and violin. This concert will feature works by the Vilnius-born composer in the company of Johannes Brahms and Karol Szymanowski, all three of whom are practically contemporaries. Waltzes, sonatas, caprices and nocturnes will enchant the audience in this weave of refinement, seduction, dreams and virtuosity.
