During the opening concert of the International Mikolaj Konstantinas Čiurlionis Music Festival in Palanga, we will hear the national music of M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts Orchestra conducted by Martynas Staskus and young soloists. The National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2002. It is a continuation of the activities of the former famous string orchestra, which won the prestigious H. von Karajan Competition. The String Orchestra was founded and directed for many years by Prof. S. Sondeckis. Since its foundation, the Symphony Orchestra has been led by Martynas Staškus, conductor of the National Opera and Ballet Theatre. The orchestra's programmes have already been performed at the Vilnius National Philharmonic Hall. The tour routes have reached not only Kaunas, Šiauliai, Klaipėda, Plungė, Panevėžys, Visaginas, but also toured abroad.
The young musicians have prepared a varied and adventurous programme for the concert on 6 July.On the occasion of the National Day, we will traditionally sing the National Anthem at the National Day celebrations on the 21st of July, together with Lithuanians from all over the world.
