Spectacle-concert
"DAY OF LOVE"
Actress, director Birutė Mar and pianist Guoda Gedvilaitė invite you to a romantic and cozy theatrical concert based on the life and work of the famous 19th century German pianist and composer Clara Schumann (1819-1896).
Supervised by her father, Friedrich Wieck, Clara, who had been a pianist since childhood, was already performing in Germany, Austria and France by the time she was just fourteen, and became one of the few female concert pianists of her time. She soon falls in love and marries composer Robert Shumann, with whom she has eight children. The life of this talented woman, devoted to music, continues to flow between her work, her home and her beloved family. As fate would have it, another great composer, Johannes Brahms, then only 18 years old, knocks on her door and becomes an inseparable friend of the Schumann family...
Like Alice in the kingdom of mirrors, Clara travels through the worlds of music and love, surrounded by her children and her dreamy, generous husband Robert Schumann, and often reminiscing and longing for the intense concert life she will only return to after saying goodbye for the last time to her husband.
The concert-performance will feature Birutė Mar's interpretations of Clara Shumann's letters and the memories of her contemporaries; pianist Guoda Gedvilaitė will perform works by Clara and Robert Shumann that are well-known, as well as less frequently performed, and filled with emotions.
