The values of the Anthropocene drill down into the human conscience and point the finger at the predator instinct that is still alive in humans. The long-standing subjugation of natural resources to indiscriminate consumption, human domination and control of the natural world, is today being replaced by new narratives about human responsibility and the future of the planet. The exhibition "Unknown Mushrooms" by the young generation of interdisciplinary artist Andrej Polukord (b. 1990) invites you to immerse yourself in a dystopian fairy tale full of paradoxes and jokes, transporting you to a forest where mushrooms grow. Mushrooms have a special status in the folklore and mythology of various countries. They are associated with nature spirits and fertility, as well as with a chthonic mythical creature - the devil - and the realms of death and money attributed to him. Mushrooms are often portrayed as living, even human beings, who do not appear to everyone, but only to the special ones who are endowed with mushroom luck or fortune. However, the mushroom kingdom is also full of unusual and unknown species. As a successful mushroom hunter and collector, Polukordas introduces new, invasive mushroom species that have been industrially cultivated and sown in the forest by us.
