On 12 October, at 7 pm, at Vilnius St. A gala concert will be held at St. John's Church in Vilnius on the 200th anniversary of the birth of Austrian composer Anton Bruckner. One of Bruckner's most majestic works, Messe in F minor, will be performed during this special event.
The concert will be conducted by Norwegian conductor Jon Fylling, and the performers will include an impressive ensemble: the Norwegian Vocal Ensemble, the Vilnius University Mixed Choir Pro Musica, the Bodo Chamber Choir, and the Vilnius Amateur Symphony Orchestra.
The sound of the work will be revealed by soloists Malgožata Patricija Minkel (soprano), Skirmantė Vaičiūtė (mezzo-soprano), Laurynas Viliušis (tenor) and Konstantin Toman (bass).
This concert is a part of the tour of the 200th anniversary of the Mass in f minor by Anton Bruckner, which has already been presented in Belgium and will be continuing in Norway. This unique series of events, taking place in three European countries with four orchestras, brings music lovers from different cultures together to celebrate the life and work of this great composer.
Norwegian conductor Jon Fylling shares his excitement for this project: "When I was 13 years old, I discovered Anton Bruckner's music and promised myself to perform his Messe in F minor one day. This mass is not only a great work, but also a personal spiritual testimony of the composer. I am delighted to present this work to the Vilnius audience together with talented musicians and choirs."
Anton Bruckner's Messe in F minor is one of the most famous masterpieces of 19th-century sacred music. The six-movement mass (Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Benedictus, Agnus Dei) conveys both spiritual depth and the composer's characteristic dramatic and symphonic lines.
