Solo Theatre invites you to the performance-concert "CLARA. A DAY OF LOVE", based on the life and work of the famous German composer and pianist Clara Schumann (1819-1896). The life of this extraordinary personality will be presented on stage by a duo of two well-known artists - director, actress Birutė Mar and Guoda Gedvilaitė, a pianist residing in Germany.
Clara Schumann's fate is shrouded in legend - Clara Jozefina Wieck, the daughter of Friedrich Wieck, a rigorous and well-known piano teacher of the time, who was characterised by her extraordinary pianistic abilities from childhood, has been giving concerts and composing music since the age of eleven, and by the time she was 19 she was a well-known concert pianist, touring in Germany, Austria and France (one of the very few women concert pianists in Europe at that time). Clara soon marries the young composer Robert Schumann. In defiance of her husband's wishes, she tries to give up her career as a pianist and sacrifices herself for her family, having as many as eight children. As fate would have it, another great composer, Johannes Brahms, enters their home and falls in love with Clara, who is fourteen years older than him...
Like Alice in the mirror kingdom, Clara travels through the worlds of music and love, surrounded by her eight children, her genius dreamer husband Robert Schumann, while trying to keep up with her vocation - to keep up with her intense concert life...
In this performance-concert, the fate of Clara Schumann will be told by pianist Guoda Gedvilaitė in the music of C. and R. Schumann's works (by the way, in the world of music this pianist is often called the "Lithuanian Clara Schumann") and fragments of C. and R. Schumann's letters, diaries and memories of their contemporaries, translated for the first time into Lithuanian and interpreted by actress Birutė Mar.
