We are happy to announce that on March 26 In Vilnius, in the cozy and acoustically ideal Vaidila Theater of the capital (Jakšto St. 9), the guitar genius, wonderful composer and singer STING's "right-hand man", Dominic Miller, will perform with his new program "VAGABOND" 2023!The musicians of the Dominic Miller band, who come to Vilnius together, are impressive! This is current Sting bassist Nicolas Fiszman (Belgium), keyboardist Jacob Karlzon (USA), fantastic drummer Ziv Ravitz (Israel). And of course there will be mystery guests performing some of Sting's hits, but the band is keeping that a secret even from the organizers for now!
Indeed, even those fans of contemporary music who may not know who Miller is, have surely heard his music many times. The thing is, Dominic Miller is not only a God-gifted guitarist, composer and songwriter, he is also the co-writer and favorite musician of such world-famous stars as Sting. The superstars of the world, who need no introduction, are very happy to collaborate with him. Phil Collins, Rod Stewart, Placido Domingo, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Tina Turner - and this is not the whole list of music legends with whom the guitar virtuoso has worked and continues to work.
Born in Argentina to an American father and an Irish mother, Dominic Miller grew up surrounded by The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, tango and Argentine folklore, blues and jazz, classical and bossa nova, Irish folk songs and American church music. All these styles, after appropriate musical training (he moved to London and studied classical guitar and composition at the famous Guildhall School of Music), were embodied in the works he created. As the musician himself says about the diversity of his styles, today he is a classical guitarist performing at the Albert Hall, tomorrow he flies to a jazz festival, and then he has to be a "rock star" somewhere else.
The world music press enthusiastically welcomed the performance of "VAGABOND", calling it the best album of the great guitar magician, and it is very lucky that one of the album's presentation concerts will be held by the band's musicians, who, according to them, have toured around the world at least six times, in their favorite city, Vilnius!
According to Miller, “As a guitarist, I'm best known for working with Sting. Since 1990, we have recorded 7 albums together with him, organized more than 1000 tours and this work continues to this day. We wrote many songs together with him. Perhaps the most famous of them is "Shape of my Heart". People often ask me, "Are you tired of being Dominic Miller - Sting's guitarist?" The answer is no, because the 20 years I worked with him were the defining years of my career, of which I am very proud. I still consider my job the best job in the world. I have never met another artist whose talent matches the popularity he has achieved. His path is also my path, and I am very proud that Sting's achievements include some of my work.
In the time I wasn't working with Sting, I recorded over 200 albums with other musicians and I'm proud to have collaborated with them. (see discography). Working with Phil Collins and The Pretenders in the late 1980s opened the door for me to join Sting's band and meet other musicians. But more importantly, this work as a session musician has allowed me to become a more confident professional. With Phil Collins, I learned how to play simple or play exactly the way certain songs should be played. The song "Another Day in Paradise", which has long occupied the first place in the world charts, is an exact confirmation of these words.
During the breaks from working with Sting, I pursued a solo career with other musicians. I have recorded 7 albums of instrumental music and occasionally go on small tours. I treat instrumental compositions in the same way as songs. Maybe that's partly because I work more often with singer-songwriters. I'm so glad people like these albums, otherwise I wouldn't have the incentive to keep making them.
When I'm not performing with Sting or other musicians and doing my own work, I'm just a husband and father of six children. Maybe I cope much worse with these roles than with the role of a musician, but I am much more proud of my achievements in this field than anything I mentioned above."Incredible romance, genius of performance, charisma, amazing warmth and sincerity - these and many other enthusiastic words can be said about this unique musician, guitarist and composer!
