Fiszman began playing guitar at the age of six; He soon learned folk guitar from the Belgian guitarist Benjamin Bertrand. At the age of eleven he began jazz training with the jazz guitarist Philip Catherine. At the age of 13 he switched to the bass and began performing in 1977 with various artists such as Philip Catherine/Larry Coryell and on television with Toots Thielemans. In the next few years he also appeared on stage with the Belgian prog rock band Cos and the Belgian singer Maurane. Soon he was playing in Christian Escoudé's quartet and Catherine's group with Charlie Mariano and Trilok Gurtu. At the age of 20, he became a member of Jasper van't Hof's band Pili Pili with singer Angélique Kidjo. He also accompanied artists such as Didier Lockwood, Alphonse Mouzon, Jacques Higelin, Alain Bashung, the Dissidents, Raoul Petite, Hubert-Félix Thiéfaine, Luca Carboni, Zazie, Rupert Hine, James Ingram, Johnny Halliday, Patricia Kaas and Francis Cabrel. He has also worked with Manu Katché, Joe Zawinul, Sting, Benjamin Biolay, Charles Aznavour and Julio Iglesias. He has been a member of Dominic Miller's band since 2005.
