„Quiet! I smell the scent of a woman!“ – š š Don Juan, who is waiting for a new victim. This absurdity does not surprise his faithful servant Leporello in the least: waiting patiently for his lady-loving master is his daily routine. In his catalogue, there are already over two and a half thousand women seduced by the lord in the five š in Spain alone, there are „one thousand and three“. But the sweetness of life and the pleasures of the flesh, which are greedily drunk, come at a price: one of Don Juan's seduced and abandoned ladies will become a curse for the charming prodigal who boldly invites the stone guest to dinner and accepts his invitation to a duel. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's „merry drama“ about the sadly ending adventures of the štoad-eater Don Juan took a new form on the stage of Klaipėda State Music Theatre in May 2019. It was directed by theatre director Jonas Vaitkus, who has taken up the interpretation of this opera for the first time after the 1987 feature film based on it. The director's idea that „Don Juanism“ features in both men and women is supported by the appearance of female screaming beings who try to adapt, participate in the action or even guide the characters' destinies. Josef Wallnig, professor at the University of Salzburg's "Mozarteum", founder of the Mozart Institute for Opera Studies and conductor, was invited to polish the subtleties of Mozart's music and to lead the opera production. He is known as the Austrian ambassador of music and an authority on Mozart's music performance.
