J. S. Bach ((1685 - 1750) Aria variata alla maniera Italiana in A-minor (Air varied in the Italian manner), BWV 989;Aria Variatta was composed around 1709 and consists of a Theme and ten virtuosic Variations, each of them in binary form. The work was written for harpsichord, but is performed with other instruments, especially piano and organ.

The three Intermezzi Op. 117 are regarded as a high point of the late Brahms's output. Clara Schumann said of these Intermezzo: "In these works I finally feel the musical life reigniting in my soul".
