About the Plunge Symphony Orchestra
Founded in 2015, The Plunge Symphony Orchestra is probably the only artistic collective of its kind that works in the region rather than in the country's capital city.
Today, audiences are delighted that Plunge has its own symphony orchestra. During the 2017 ceremony of the Lithuanian Association of Cultural Centres' Golden Phoenix Awards, the orchestra's directors Ieva and Paulius Lygnugaris were nominated as the best creators of culture and art of the year. The orchestra has about 40 musicians, and has been enthusiastically joined not only by professional musicians, but also by teachers, Plungiaians who have studied music at higher education institutions or conservatories, and a number of talented young people who have graduated from art schools.
Every year the ensemble has been developing strongly, actively performing not only in Lithuanian cities and towns, but also abroad. The repertoire is constantly renewed and new works are added. Well-known national artists and bands gladly invite the orchestra to play in their solo concerts.
