The collective was formed in December 2015 and performed to a large audience on 16 February 2016. It is probably the only artistic collective of its kind that performs in the region rather than in the country's capital city
Today, audiences are delighted that Plungė has its own Symphony Orchestra too. In 2017, during the ceremony of the Lithuanian Association of Cultural Centres' awards "Golden Phoenix", Ieva and Paulius Lygnugariai were nominated as the best creators of culture and art of the year. Today, the orchestra has about 40 musicians, including a large number of professionals in the field. The orchestra has been joined with extraordinary enthusiasm by teachers, plungers who have studied music at higher schools or conservatories, and a number of talented young people who have graduated from art schools.
Each year the orchestra is improving strongly, actively performing not only in Lithuanian towns and cities but also abroad. The repertoire is constantly changed and supplemented with new works. The orchestra is also very flexible and can prepare a programme according to the needs of the audience. The orchestra is also invited to accompany well-known national artists and groups in their solo concerts.
