The title of the exhibition is an allusion to Rachel Carson's book of the same name (Silent Spring), published in 1962. A major influence on the environmental movement, the book dealt with the negative impact of pesticides on the environment. The exhibition focuses on the climate crisis and the artist's reflections. Caroline's work inevitably reflects the sadness, anxiety and sometimes helplessness that this causes. It is like a melancholic reflection on the impacts on living nature that have already become symbols (the melting of glaciers, the reduction of forests untouched by man, the loss of species). Karolina's work becomes a kind of cleansing, a letting go of troubling thoughts and images. Along with jewellery, collages of photographs from various corners of Lithuanian nature will be exhibited. A glimpse through the seasons is like an ode to the environment. An ode to what we still have, but might not find tomorrow. The exhibition invites us to look at the world from a hopeful perspective - to re-evaluate and conserve. The exhibition will be on view at the Marija and Jurgis Šlapela House-Museum (Pilies st. 40, Vilnius) until 28 February.
