This retrospective exhibition was conceived on the occasion of Kęstutis Kasparavičius' anniversary - it is like a salute to a creative and hard-working member of the community of artists. The exhibition should be called Kasparatorija, a word coined by the author himself: it is a unique territory of the artist's creativity and a laboratory, where illustrations and characters are born, living in books and in readers' heads. He has been faithful to one area of his work - the book: he has illustrated many children's literature classics (Bürger, Milašius, Andersen, Hoffmann, Collodi, etc.), poetry books, and while illustrating Edward Lear's book, he discovered the aesthetics of nonsense, which later became a distinctive feature of Kasparavičius's work. After illustrating books by various authors, he finally decided to write his own, and has now written and illustrated 20 children's books. His illustrations are closely linked to the text - the author, like the director and set designer of the books, fills them with witty characters and situations. His fairy tales are aimed at children and adults alike, and the effect of his books is exceptionally therapeutic and memorable: they have brought up several generations of Lithuanian children and fans of his work.
