Lovefool is a one-man show about Grace, a young woman who longs for love but finds it in the most inappropriate places (and people) until life finally forces her to discover what true love (for herself) is.
Lithuanian-born Luxembourg-based playwright and director Gintarė Parulytė sensitively and humorously explores the effects of toxic masculinity and the consequences of a life governed by overly confusing expectations related to gender roles in a moving play. The play deals with emotionally detached fathers, dependent mothers, and how unresolved trauma affects our ability to love and accept love as adults. But the play is also about the hope that the world will change, and it exalts self-knowledge as a way to understand the world, to heal, and to live a life of true love, sincerity, meaning, and purpose. Lovefool is an overtly sensitive, funny and heartbreaking play.
