This Friday, 8 March, the Great Hall of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre will host the Lithuanian Independence Restoration Day celebration. During the event, students will be awarded the M.K. Čiurlionis Incentive Scholarship for Young Artists and the Kazimieras Motieka Foundation Scholarship.
The M.K. Čiurlionis Incentive Scholarship is awarded to the students of the Composition Department of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, and the students of the Vilnius Academy of Arts. The Kazimieras Motieka Foundation Scholarship is awarded to the most talented Lithuanian talents in the field of art, this time to a pianist from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre.
In the concert of the festive celebration, we will hear an excerpt from the work for organ and electronics "Like an Underground River" by the composer Domantas Pūras, winner of the M.K.Čiurlionis Incentive Scholarship for the Year 2023. Works by M. Arnold, V. Augustinas and M. K. Čiurlionis will be performed by the Academy's Woodwind Quintet (doc. Julius Černius' chamber ensemble class students, Prof. Daumantas Kirilauskas).
M. K. Čiurlionis Incentive Scholarship is awarded from 2020. It is awarded to students whose work and studies, alongside other interests and themes, include a contemporary rethinking of M. K. Čiurlionis' work and the ideals he fostered in the context of Lithuanian and World culture. Two incentive scholarships are awarded each year: one each to students of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Vilnius Academy of Arts.In previous years, the scholarships have been awarded to Domantas Pūras, Mantvydas Leonas Pranulis, Lukas Butkus and Gintarė Valionytė, students of the Lithuanian Academy of Art and Architecture, and to Agata Orlovska, Viltė Žumbakytė, Denisas Kolomyckyis and Rokas Janušonis, students of the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts.
The scholarships of the Kazimierz Motieka Foundation will be awarded for the second time. The amount of the scholarship is EUR 3,500.
