Malcolm Arnold was a British composer, born in Northampton in 1921. He discovered his passion for music at a young age and received a scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music in London. During World War II, he worked as an orchestral player and later devoted himself entirely to composing. He wrote film scores, concertos, symphonies, and chamber music, displaying a gift for popular style along with a darker side revealing the human condition. Arnold settled in Cornwall, Dublin, and Norfolk over the years.
