Giuseppe Verdi's 1862 tragedy returns to the Met after a hiatus of almost 30 years, and for the first time ever, it will be broadcast from New York to cinemas. The new version of the opera is directed by Mariusz Trelinski, Artistic Director of the Warsaw Grand Opera House.
The torment of unrequited love, the cruelty of a vendetta that can only be washed away in blood, and the deadly strife of a dying family, weave a breathtaking kaleidoscope of events that are brought to life by the Metropolitan's revolving stage to great effect. The lead role of the Marquise Leonora, who is forced to divorce her lover, will be played by the Norwegian opera sensation, soprano Lise Davidsen.
