Pinoki is a cunning "puppet" creature, single-mindedly pursuing pleasure and ways to avoid the "unpleasant", "boring" part of life. If director Šarūnas Datenis so wishes, he is not born in the time of Carlo Collodi's fairy tale, nor even today, but in the near future, where the problems of today's intensified consumption, automation and alienation are rampant. And no one is pulling him out of the tree anymore - here he is not a little tree, but an android with artificial intelligence.
When Pinocchio is born, he is already well aware of his own rights and needs, but he has a long, perilous road to travel to understand basic humanity. Indeed, we ourselves are often unclear about what it means to be a good person these days and, more importantly, how to become one.
During this challenging journey of discovering the world, for the first time in a performance by Š. Datenis, the audience will be treated to a number of original songs: electronic music, non-poetic poems, jazz and hip-hop styles. In addition, for the first time, the playwright Tekle Kavtaradze has been invited to help, helping to radically change the text of Collodi's classic tale and adapt it to the present day.
