The exhibition tells a brief history of the Vilnius University Philomatics Society, introducing its prominent members and their fates. The Society was founded in 1817 and existed until 1823, when the tsarist authorities hunted it down, interrogated, imprisoned and deported its members. Among the members of the Society were the well-known Adam Mickiewicz, Tomas Zanas, Ignotas Domeika and others. We invite you to remember the courageous, romantic and freedom-seeking philomatics, for whom the motto "Homeland, Science, Dora!" were not just empty words, but a unifying value of life. Especially now, it is important for us to remember what freedom is and what price we pay for it. The Vilnius Town Hall (Didžioji str. 31) will be open in January.
