The depth of the universe from three grains of rice is the credo of the creators of "Siberian Haiku". The performance is based on the texts of the book of the same name by Jurga Vilė. Here, the story of the exile of the writer's father, Algimantas Stakėnas, is retold through the lips of a ten-year-old boy, and through it the fate of many Lithuanians is revealed.
The most important medium of the stage game is the earth. All the characters of the story emerge from it, it also succinctly conveys the historical actions and consequences of the war. As usual in the Stalo Theater, actor Balys Ivanauskas portrays the most important characters - Algiukas, his sister, mother, father, the goose Martynas, aunt Petronelė, soldiers Bulvini and Duoninis and others - using various household items. Together with the actor, the three-singer choir "Obuoliai" creates the atmosphere of the performance. Young generation composer Mantvydas Leonas Pranulis chose musical instruments corresponding to the poverty of exile, Algiuk's favorite instruments - buckets and people's voices.
By ingeniously using and making various objects act unexpectedly, the play "Siberian Haiku" pays a lot of attention to the theme of human spiritual freedom and creativity, because in difficult moments it is this that gives strength to even the smallest ones. Although the work tells about painful things, the place of grief is replaced by play, light and haiku - a Japanese poem that "paints" a natural landscape in a few words, symbolizing the inner experiences of a person.
