"The world is an external place where we feel alien and insecure. This is why we need to make that foreign space our home. East Prussia is my historical homeland, which no longer exists, only the same sky and one other artefact of memory. By painting the natural and cultural motifs of East Prussia, I symbolically "reclaim" them and turn them into a metaphysical home, I become trapped under the same sky. But in essence, geography and history are irrelevant here. What matters is the relationship, the gaze, the becoming. What matters is to connect with the environment, to feel it and give it a visible expression. To try to resist the entropy of time."
